Can we say asking for trouble?

Yes, I have lost my mind. Drayton had a good week at school and somehow convinced me that he should get his Halloween Costume now. He's been wanting to be a red power ranger for over a year. And you have to admit, he looks great. Now, can someone please tell me how to keep him from kicking me?

Kindergarten

Ok So it took me a week to get to this. Sorry. Bad momma. Drayton had a rough week last week at Kindergarten. He doesn't like rules, he's opinionated, and outspoken. No idea where he gets it from. Today was a better day. We both like his teacher, Mrs. Felkins, quite a bit. So hopefully it will all work out. Here are some pictures from his first day of Kindergarten (8/20/07)

This was just inside the Kindergarten wing. No other pictures besides these two. He was checking everything else out so quickly he wouldn't stand still long enough to take any other pictures. School starts Monday! I'll let you know how it goes.

Elementary Here We Come

Friday, Aug. 20th, was meet and great day at Drayton's school. He is very excited about being a kindergartener. His teacher is Mrs. Felkins and she seems to be very enthusiastic. Which, as you know, with Drayton is a good thing. Here he is outside the school yesterday.

I did it!

Drayton is admiring his preschool graduation certificate. I had trouble with the camera at the exact moment that he was presented his "diploma". I hope that this is not a sign of my doing this at every important moment.

Ms Amy and Dray Dray

This was Drayton's preschool teacher since he was 3. She was in the primary class and then moved up with the pre-k class when they all moved up. Amy isn't much taller than the kids and she has such a sweet heart. We were lucky to have her.

Farewell to preschool

Drayton graduated from preschool yesterday. They had a hawaiian party. This is a cake with their class picture on the front. None of his preschool friends will be attending his elementary school so this is a sad farwell.

Out of the mouth of babes

I noticed yesterday that for the past week I had been suffering greatly from what I call GBS (grumpy butt syndrome). And I tried hard to figure out why. This morning as we walked into Drayton's Sunday School class he jumped up and down and informed his teacher "I'm so happy to be back at church!". And bingo! My GBS was cleared. I'm so lucky to have such a great son!!!

Countdown to Kindergarten

We went for Kindergarten assessment/testing today. He met the three teachers at Washington elementary. We do a meet/great open house on the 17th and 1st day of school is the 20th. YES!! I am a wreck!

More Summer Fun!

AQUA MAN

I tried calling him momma's fish. But that was too babyish.
Ok I know it's sideways. But it's a good picture. And I'm retarded.

Charlia and Drayton at Easter. (Yes it's been that long since I last posted, hush)

"Is it my turn?"

The very first practice, Drayton threw the ball and bloodied Kaden's nose. They were best friends the rest of the season.

4th of July with Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Roger

T-Ball Coach Brown and Drayton

Horrible Mother

Ok I am a horrible mother and an even worse blogger. This Spring sprang by wayyyy too fast and now Summer is half way over. AAGGGHHHHH. So here's what's up. Dray played T-Ball this year for the first time. He did ok. Kind of a short attention span. If you see a child out in the field dancing in circles, that's him. laughing. It was an experience. I will post the picture of him getting his trophy.

Drayton has also learned to swim. Kinda. He looks more like he's running under water. But he's working on it. Still no fear which is a little bad, but we're having fun. We've been to the lake and to the aquatic park alot this summer.

I can't get over how much he is growing and maturing. We were in line the other day and I mumbled something about it taking forever. He looked at me and said, "Mom, you have to be patient". So obviously we are learning a lot together.

Drayton has also joined the Summer reading program at the library. He can't read yet, but he checks out books and I read them to him. He gets a sticker for each time he listenes to 6 books and then a prize after listening to 30. We're half way there. He checks out at least 3 books a week and then we read them over and over and over again. It's alot of fun.

He is also trying to learn math. Addition and Subtraction. He gets very aggrivated at himself when he doesn't know the answer. Very impatient. Wonder where he gets that from.

Kindergarten starts on Aug. 20th. I can't believe he'll be in "big" school this year. Time sure flies.

Spring has Sprung

With Spring alot has been going on at our house. This is Dray's first year of playing T-Ball, and he is loving it. Still a few more weeks until we have our first game though. Some friends of ours have also given him their trampoline (their kids are all grown up) so here are pictures from the day we set it up.

Spider Man

Drayton loves super heros. But his favorite is definetly spider man. So with the 3rd movie being released this summer he is in 7th heaven. This weekend Wal-Mart had a stand up card board thing and lots of spider man toys in honor of the upcoming movie release. We were there for hours as Dray told us all about Spiderman, the new green goblin, and sand man. He's not even seen the movie yet, but already knows more about it than I do.

March Madness

It's been awhile since I last posted. Sorry. Things around here are as crazy as usual. Drayton had so much fun last weekend. Friday night he stayed with his "sister" charlia and then Sat. they both went to Nana and Papa's to go fishing. No fish were caught but worms were played with, hotdogs were eaten, and fun was had.

This week he came down with the flu, strand b. So we've been stuck in the house since Weds. This is an unusual phenominon. Drayton tends to get sick on Weds. nights. Very odd. Johnny is off on Mon. Tues and Weds during the day, so if Dray is sick those days he stays home with Johnny. But most of the time he is fine until Weds night which then means that I am home with him on Thurs. Maybe he's allergic to Weds.

So needless to say, we are ready for the flu season to be over with and Spring to Sping. Dray will be playing Tee-Ball this year for the first time. His team is the Northside Rotary. First practice is on the 28th. He is so excited that he talks about it all the time, and has slept with his batting helmet the last 2 nights. I think we may be in for an adventure!

Imagination

Drayton went back to preschool today. And of course was in trouble most of the day. Most of the time for sticking his tongue out at the teacher, over and over again. This is the same boy who last week when he didn't want to do his school work wadded up the papers and threw them at Ms. Amy. (HUGE SIGH).

Drayton has also decided .. today anyway..that when he grows up he wants to be a Doctor. That's great. But I have a feeling he might be an actor/comedian instead. Maybe he'll play a dr. :)

He also has this new thing about telling us stories regarding his "granny". Now he calls Johnny's mom "Gert" and my mom "nana" so we questioned who his granny was. Especially when he started telling us that she likes to bite him on his leg and drink hs blood. Sooooo .. maybe we should cut down on the Scooby Doo.

Yesterday with Drayton

We continue the entertaining of ourselves while Dray recovers from his bronchitis. Here are a couple of examples of how he is doing this.

Drayton walks into the room and wants to show me a "trick with his nose". He then proceeds to blow something out of it. "What was that?" I ask. "An acorn" (turns out it was a popcorn kernal)

With the weather doing odd things down here we had a weird infestation of ants in our bathroom. I put out little ant traps and that put an end to that. Or so I thought. Johnny went into the bathroom yesterday and "Drayton Levi Jenkins Come Here!". "Why are there grapes in the sink drane?" This is where Drayton looks up innocently at his father and replys "the ants were hungry".

God be with us.

So much for Jocelyn

I asked Drayton this morning to tell his dad who his "bestest girl" was. His reply: "Kaitlyn, Lauren, Ashleigh, Jocelyn, Ms. Amy, Hot Mama (the woman who runs the daycare),Charlia, Haillie, Emily, Bailey", and the list kept going.

Bronchitis

The problem with a child who suffers from asthma, even though the asthma is getting better, is that they are prone to bronchitis. Which we are home sick with today. This also means that we get to use his albuteral inhaler to help open up his airways. Albuteral is a miracle drug..but it makes the child hyper. Now Drayton is hyper to begin with. So after a few puffs of this, and it being cold outside, imagine Drayton is a race car on speed..and I'm the guy in the pit crew trying to make sure he doesn't crash into a wall and destroy the entire house. I can't wait until summer!!

VALENTINE'S DAY

Drayton introduced me to a little girl at his preschool yesterday named Jocelyn. He then told me that she was his "bestest girl". My reply was a sad "I thought I was your bestest girl". After a long pause he said "WEEEELLLLL you can be my cousin".

You're So Vain

Carly Simon must have had a since of Drayton when singing this song. Our bathroom has a large mirror that covers most of one wall. And a smaller mirror that Dray says is his. Starting at the door to the bathroom when he enters to the other side, Drayton is always watching himself in the mirror. He puts on a show. Sometimes even going as far as to stand up on the side of the tub and saying "Ladies and Gentlemen". If we covered the rest of the room with mirrors, so that he could watch himself on the toilet and while in the shower, we'd never see him again. Or he'd at least stay in there as long as the smell will allow. :)

New Drayton phrases

Drayton has a couple of new things that he likes to say. First off is when you ask him a question his answer usually begins with WELL. But not really well, it's more of a "weeeeeeeeeeelllllllllllll". He is also using the phrase "hold your patience" a lot. It seems he thinks that his father and I are rather impatient. Conversations go something like this.
"drayton have you picked up your toys?" "Drayton did you hear me?" "drayton, answer me" and then drayton will reply "Hold your patience".

Christmas 2006

Christmas 2006 was a terrific one. Drayton really understood Santa and baby Jesus and of course wanted everything in sight. We were very lucky to have had such a great one. The picture here of the 4 kids is Dray and his cousins. Haillie-12, Louie-7, and Charlia-4.

Never Forgotten Drayton Moment

This is an older picture. But I think maybe Dray's opinion of the snake might have been one very similar to that of his mother...note that she is nowhere in sight.

Infamous Draytonisms and some Draytonise

Some of you know that Dray has 1. created his own language and 2. has also gotten quite a mouth on him. I know the later was a shock to us as well. Where he gets his attitude and his constant determination that he is always right is just beyond our comprehension. Anyway, thought I would share some of his own lagnuage first. Words and phrases that we refer to as Draytonise.

1. Asolason (prounounced a so la son emphasis on the son). This is used mostly as an adjective. "That's so asoloson" or "asoloson mom". I'm not quite sure that it's not being formed into a curse word, but we'll get back to that later.
2. "monsters behind my eyes" is how he explains that he has had a bad dream. Luckily the monsters are usually neutralized by a combination of mom kissing each eye lid and then scooby doo coming to the rescue.
3. Many folks know the "grace" prayer. God is Great, God is Good, Let us thank him for our food, buy his hands we are fed thank you for our daily bread. Not Drayton's version. He insists that it is buy his hands we are bed. So for any of you out there who thought you were a bed, well here is proof.

These are the top three right now. I'm sure there will be more to come. I just thank god that at this time, he refrains from using some of the words that could be referred to as "Fondaise" and you know what I"m talking about.

The disapearing of the dray blog

Just before Christmas I created a blog about Dray. I was able to log in a couple of times and add things and then POOF. I suffered from being stranded on a deserted island with creatures called "The Others" who had weird tatoos and kept chanting weird numerical sequences. Or maybe I was just retarded and could never remember my password/ username and thus the would never allow me access to humilate my child. Which ever reason, and you can chose the most plausable, I am starting one again. And hopefully will remain loyal to humilating my son online at the tender age of 5, before he realizes that I am humilating him. Wish me luck!
